The zoological park and 16th century Chateau de la Bourbansais, owned by the same family for 400 years and is a particular favourite with groups. The medieval towns of Dinan and Vitré are excellent locations for historical, geographical and creative studies. The Rue de Jerzual in Dinan and the half timbered houses on the Rues d’Embas and Rue de la Baudrairie in Vitré offer opportunities for sketching or photography.

In the Middle Ages St Malo was originally a fortified island at the mouth of the Rance, controlling the estuary and the sea beyond. It was almost totally destroyed by fire during World War II but completely restored. The old walled town and ramparts are easily explored on foot. Vibrant local markets take place every day except Sunday. A visit to the aquarium on the outskirts of the town is highly recommended. Dinard is arguably Brittany’s most fashionable seaside resort with fine sandy beaches. The local market is held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.
